In the field of global apparel trade, China has long occupied an important position as the world’s largest apparel exporter. With its impressive manufacturing scale, skilled workforce and efficient supply chain system, it is well deserved to become a global leader in the apparel industry.
China’s numerous textile and apparel enterprises are able to produce an extremely wide range of clothing products, ranging from fast fashion clothing to meet the needs of the public fast fashion, to haute couture clothing that demonstrates exquisite craftsmanship and high-end quality. These enterprises continue to innovate and develop, showing strong competitiveness in the international market, providing global consumers with a variety of clothing choices, and further consolidating China’s key position and far-reaching influence in the global clothing industry.
As shown in the figure, the dominant position in the global apparel export pattern is the Asian region. Vietnam is next with 5.8% of global exports, followed by Turkey with 3.5%, India with 3% and Malaysia with 2.7%. It is worth mentioning that Bangladesh has been one of the fastest growing countries in the past decade, with its exports increasing by 8% between 2010 and 2021. Vietnam and Malaysia are also in the spotlight for their impressive growth rates, with Vietnam’s exports growing by 11% and Malaysia’s by 13% during this period. These data clearly show the important position of Asian countries in the global apparel export field, as well as the development trend and competitiveness changes of different countries.
